- Please be sure to pack a reusable water bottle and a snack or meal for your child.
- Even though our clinics are in the evening time, the sun is fierce. Please bring proper sun protection including; sunscreen, hat, and UV protective clothing.
- Skate boarding attire for the summer days will likely include; shorts, t-shirt/tank/longsleeve UV shirt, cap, and skate shoes. Please do not arrive in flip flops or bare feet. This will not be allowed. Skate Shoes are highly recommended.
- Drop off and Pick Up: Parents should drop off kids at the skate park and check in with SPI Sessions staff. Please be on time for our clinics and for pick-up. SPI Sessions staff will wait with children after our clinic, but must not exceed 20 minutes after pick-up or our after-care price of $25 will be charged. Meet Tom
Hi My name is Tomás Gómez. I am teacher and a coach for Brownsville Independent School District. I am also the President of the 100% Skateboarders Club Texas South Texas Chapter, a member Refuge Surf and Skate, Surfrider foundation, Gorgas Science Society and Sk8RGV. My goal is to promote the positive side of the skateboarding and board sports in the Rio Grande Valley. As the President of 100% Skateboarder South Texas (956 Chapter), we try to provide skateboards and equipment to kids and young adults in need and help young skaters with repairs. We rely on donations of old boards and parts, as well as occasional cash donations to help secure skateboards and parts. I have worked in education for over twenty years. I have taught courses in Environmental Science, Texas History, and American History. As a coach, I have had the pleasure of training two district champ teams in basketball and football as well as being the head coach of an all-district team in soccer. I encourage hard work, fair play, and respect. My motto is nothing is impossible. Skateboarding inspires my creativity and has been a lifelong pursuit. At 45 years old, I have been skating for over thirty years. “The best skateboarder is the one having the most fun.” Cheers.
